About Abby
Abby Foster is a mother of two raising her children in District 27. She has spent years in the NE Heights helping turn out voters, supporting Democratic candidates and causes, and staying active in our community. She serves as a Ward Chair for the Democratic Party of Bernalillo County and graduated from Emerge New Mexico, which trains Democratic women to run for office and lead.
Abby first became active in politics protesting for women’s rights in 2004. Since then, her work has centered on advocacy, public service, and helping people navigate difficult systems.
As an attorney, Abby represents adults with disabilities in guardianship proceedings, helping clients understand their rights and advocating for them in court. She has also worked on policy for the city of Albuquerque as Managing Attorney for Policy and inside the New Mexico Legislature as an analyst for both the senate and house majorities, where she prepared bill analyses on education, conservation, natural resources, and water issues.
Earlier in her career, Abby helped build and manage mediation programs for courts across New Mexico and work directly with families and individuals to resolve disputes. Her professional background has given her experience in law, public policy, access to justice, and problem-solving, along with a clear view of how government decisions affect people's daily lives.
Abby comes from a union family and that background helped shape her commitment to fairness, dignity, and opportunity for working people. She is running for State House to bring that same commitment to serving District 27.
