At-A-Glance

Need more reasons to say “NO” to Jahnelle Garcia this November?

Help us find Jahnelle Garcia.

Jahnelle has listed three different properties as her home, but only one is located in House District 27: a home on Walnut Creek.

The current resident of the Walnut Creek property says Jahnelle doesn’t live there. He has lived at the property for over a year and continues to receive her mail, despite Jahnelle listing the address as her primary residence as recently as July.

Online property records show that Jahnelle’s real home is in Los Lunas, over 40 miles away from House District 27, where one of her private businesses operates.

Her third property is located on Albuquerque’s Westside in House District 68.

And Democrats and independents aren’t the only ones asking questions. Even Republicans have called Jahnelle evasive and are considering filing their own complaint against her.

Not featured: More recently additional property records show Jahnelle has also listed a Westside Albuquerque home as her new place of residence.

Jahnelle owes nearly $1 MILLION in federal tax liens

Jahnelle Garcia has twice told the Albuquerque Journal that she has never been the subject of a tax lien, most recently on October 3rd, 2026.

But records obtained from the Valencia County Clerk tell a different story.

Recently obtained documents reveal five tax assessments dating back to 2022, totaling nearly $1 million.

Date of Assessment Unpaid Balance of Assessment
11/21/2022 $29,080.51
11/24/2025 $467,640.77
12/08/2025 $199,508.99
12/08/2025 $145,519.35
05/04/2026 $154,807.70
Total: $996,557.32

And the IRS isn’t the only place Jahnelle owes money. She’s also taken out almost $200,000 in loans to fund her campaign for House District 27.

If we can’t trust Jahnelle to manage her own money, how can we trust her with taxpayers’ money?

Jahnelle Garcia blatantly lied to the press and the public when she claimed she had never been subject to a tax lien. And that’s in addition to the many lies she’s told about Abby Foster.

Jahnelle has accepted contributions from numerous groups tied to MAGA Republicans and insurance companies.

She frequently touts doctors as supporters of her campaign but doctors who have contributed to her, and the groups associated with them, have been linked to controversies involving botched medical procedures. Many are Republicans who don’t live in House District 27 and New Mexico.

And her healthcare-industry donors raise even more questions.

Jahnelle’s campaign has accepted tens-of-thousands from healthcare corporations and PACs. One of which, the New Mexico Hospital Association PAC, has opposed legislation establishing minimum nurse-to-patient staffing ratios and stronger oversight of hospital mergers and acquisitions.

Lifepoint Health PAC, operates a Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces. The hospital became the subject of a state investigation following allegations that cancer patients were denied treatment or required to pay upfront before receiving care.

These are the healthcare interests helping fund Jahnelle Garcia’s campaign.

Jahnelle has also accepted contributions from groups tied to attacks on universal childcare.

At a time when New Mexicans are struggling to pay their bills, Jahnelle has chosen to put herself in the pocket of interest that oppose policies intended to help middle and working-class families care for their children and loved ones.

Jahnelle also accepted money from a principal Albuquerque real estate company who faced allegations of workplace sexual harassment.

MAGA Jahnelle and her MAGA donors.

Jahnelle Garcia doesn’t think our laws apply to her.

A House District 27 voter recently filed an ethics complaint against Jahnelle Garcia for failing to include legally required disclaimers on her campaign signs.

Then, Friends of Abby Foster filed another ethics complaint with the Secretary of State, alleging Jahnelle used campaign funds to pay for advertisements promoting her private practice and business.

These campaign-funded online advertisements promoted her business, which sells facial contouring services and liquid IVs, and reached more than one million people.

She treats camping finance laws as mere suggestions and apparently believes she can use the money from her donors and her campaign loans to advertise her own business, attract new clients, and sell her so-called “healthcare” products.

VOTER FILES CAMPAIGN FINANCE COMPLAINT AGAINST JAHNELLE GARCIA

Albuquerque, NM - Today, an HD27 voter filed a complaint with the State Ethics Commission alleging Republican nominee for HD27, Jahnelle Garcia, violated New Mexico campaign finance law by placing signs throughout the district without the legally required disclaimer identifying who authorized and paid for them.

New Mexico campaign finance law requires qualifying campaign advertising to disclose who authorized and paid for it. According to the complaint, Garcia's campaign signs failed to include that basic disclosure.

"Jahnelle can't have it both ways. She wants to manufacture controversy around donors that I have publicly, legally disclosed, while she doesn't follow fundamental election law." Foster said, "If she wants to make this race about transparency, she should start with her own campaign. This is incredibly disappointing, but unfortunately it is a pattern," Foster added.

The complaint comes just weeks after controversy over Garcia's candidate filing address. Garcia repeatedly listed an HD27 home as her residence in various campaign finance documents, even though the home's current owner told Source New Mexico's Patrick Lohmann that he had lived there for more than a year. This is corroborated by property records listing Garcia's home in Los Lunas.

"Transparency isn't optional when you're asking the public to trust you." Foster continued, "Voters shouldn't have to investigate where a candidate actually lives. They shouldn't have to wonder who paid for campaign ads. And they shouldn't have to repeatedly ask whether a candidate followed basic election laws.'

Foster said the recurring issues are particularly concerning because Garcia is seeking to be the next HD27 State Representative, where her job would be to understand and write state law.

"I've worked for the legislature and know firsthand that you must understand the law and be accountable to the people you want to represent. Jahnelle keeps giving voters reasons to question her ability to do so." Foster continued, "At this point, I genuinely don't know which is worse: that Jahnelle doesn't understand basic laws or that she may understand them, but doesn't think they apply to her."

GOP CANDIDATE FOR HD27 USED CAMPAIGN FUNDS TO ADVERTISE HER COMPANIES

Albuquerque, NM - Jahnelle Garcia, the Republican nominee for State House Representative in District 27, faces yet another State Ethics Commission complaint, this time alleging that she used campaign funds to pay for social media advertisements promoting her own businesses.

The ad, paid for by the "Committee to Elect Jahnelle," contains no substantive policy content. Its only written text lists Garcia as an entrepreneur and nurse practitioner and spotlights two of her businesses. The complaint notes that Meta listed a potential audience of over one million people, which vastly exceeds the 23,000-person electorate of House District 27.

"The rules for campaign money are strict, and every treasurer is expected to follow them," said Julie Rochman, treasurer for Friends of Abby Foster. "Jahnelle doesn't get a different set of rules. Her campaign paid to promote her private companies to a massive audience. At the very least, she must take accountability so that the voters and the donors who've supported her can see how she's using their funds."

The New Mexico Campaign Reporting Act and Administrative Code limit how campaign contributions may be spent and prohibit the personal use of campaign funds. The complaint points out that Garcia's businesses make up a substantial part of the advertisement, are not tied to any identifiable campaign proposal, and provide a commercial benefit to the companies associated with Garcia.

"People donate to a campaign to help a candidate share their ideas and earn votes," continued Rochman. "Jahnelle used that money to show a million people ads for her businesses, which sell IV drips and weight loss treatments. This is yet another illegal act by Jahnelle that violates New Mexico law."

Garcia's campaign has drawn repeated questions about its compliance with election law. Last week, a voter filed a separate complaint alleging that Garcia's campaign signs lacked the legally required disclaimer identifying who paid for them. Garcia also came under scrutiny for listing an HD27 home as her residence on campaign finance documents, even though the home's current owner told Source New Mexico he had lived there for more than a year.

"These rules are not optional," Abby Foster, Garcia's opponent, stated. "Jahnelle seems to think basic laws and requirements apply to everyone but her. Our district deserves someone focused on serving our community, not using a political campaign to promote a business in Los Lunas."
